This dissertation analyses the reaction behaviour of solid fuels under operating conditions of entrained flow gasifiers. A devolatilisation and char conversion model is developed and validated with experimental data from test rigs in lab and pilot scale. The application of the model enables the design and optimisation of industrial scale entrained flow gasifiers.
