Zusammenfassung / Abstract

The plastid, defining organelle of the archaeplastidae, are covered by two envelope membranes. The first barrier between plastid and its surrounding is the outer envelope. This highly dynamic interface is transport controller, resistance facilitator and production site of vital factors in the plant cell. This work concludes up to date knowledge about the outer envelope membrane and provides new basic insides in novel outer envelope protein functions. The central part demonstrates a novel tool to doubtless localize proteins to the envelope membranes by using live cell imaging approaches in combination with the unique dynamic properties of the envelope membrane systems of the plastid.
