Vitaliy Kondrashov Novel Silicon and Polymer Nanograss Surfaces - Generation, Wetting Properties and the Prevention of Icing
160 Seiten, Dissertation Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau (2015), Softcover, B5
This work describes methods to generate water-repellent surfaces decorated with silicon and polymer-based "nanograss". The silicon nanograss was fabricated using dry etching processes and the polymeric nanograss was generated from silicon masters using a novel double replication method. The obtained surfaces were subjected to condensation and icing experiments. In conclusion of these experiments a model is developed, which allows a much improved understanding of the nucleation mechanism and origin of an ice formation delay on nanostructured water-repellent surfaces. Finally, a mechanically stable nanograss-based surface with excellent wetting properties was obtained by generating a surface with a hierarchical roughness.
