Internal cooling of gas turbine blades allows turbine entry temperatures, which exceed the material limits of the turbine blades. Due to the internal cooling, the thermal efficiency and the output of the specific work is increased. Thereby, the applied internal cooling configurations are adjusted according to the external heat load, thus the temperature limits of the applied alloys are not exceeded. The production process of the internal cooling configuration has to be very accurate in order to ensure the durability of the produced components. First, in this work an experimental setup is defined, which allows the experimental investigation of the internal heat transfer of internally cooled turbine components. Furthermore, data analysis methods are developed, which allow the qualitative and quantitative estimation of the internal heat transfer in the production process.
The use of the experimental method in the production process requires a practicable and efficient handling and a time efficient data analysis. In the experiment, a temperature response of the outer faces is induced by a heated internal flow. The temperature response of the outer faces is recorded by infrared thermography.
