Hanin Jildeh Liquid-Liquid Extraction Columns: Parameter Estimation
174 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (2015), Softcover, A4
An advanced numerical approach, drop population balance model, is used to predict the transient droplet behavior in liquid-liquid extraction columns, which depicts information about droplet transport, droplet interactions (breakage, coalescence) and solute mass transfer. Literature models for the kernels contain fitting parameters. Therefore, a correct parameter set for the kernels, which is independent from column geometry and invariant to the change in operating conditions, is essential for any simulation. The obtained results are validated offline and real-time prediction using different chemical test systems and column types. Results show that the methodology to obtain insensitive parameters is accurate, thus it can be used to design and simulate liquid extraction columns, especially during scale-up and scale-down.
