Karoline A. Ostrowski Development of New Tandem Catalyses – Merging Industrially Relevant Chemical Reactions
243 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Dortmund (2016), Softcover, A5
The development of a strategy to establish new tandem catalyses was focused. Tandem catalyses describe a sophisticated and sustainable way to form highly functionalised molecules in one single preparative step by combining different reactions. Until now, a general procedure for developing new tandem catalysis had been lacking. A general method has been established in this work, which is valid for all three types of tandem catalysis: assisted tandem catalysis, orthogonal tandem catalysis and auto-tandem catalysis.
Three case examples were designed, successfully developed and optimised for each tandem catalytic type. They are characterised by high atom efficiency and lead to products of interest, such as building blocks for surfactants and polymers. Uncovering the reaction network forms the core part of newly designed tandem catalysis. This is crucial for the determination of the tandem catalytic type, leading the way to a successful development and optimisation of the tandem catalysis.
