In this thesis methods for modelling lumped and distributed linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems in input-output form are presented. Based on implicit system representations, improved analysis as well as controller synthesis conditions for complex LPV systems are introduced in the form of linear and bilinear matrix inequalities. Moreover, methods are derived that allow to impose a fixed controller structure during the controller synthesis process and thus the implementation complexity of the digital control laws is kept low.
