Raman Subrahmanyam Evaluation of CO2 driven processes for the production of biopolymeric mesoporous networks
160 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Hamburg (2019), Softcover, A5
Although discovered in 1930’s, only recently have biopolymers been recognized as an abundant source of chemically diverse macromolecules for aerogels. The aim of this work is to evaluate the use of carbon dioxide in the various process steps of biopolymer aerogel production. Four frameworks; (1) supercritical CO2 drying operating protocol scrutiny with a thermodynamic perspective (2) CO2 usage possibility in the biopolymer hydrogel formation (3) Solvent selection factors for solvent exchange and supercritical drying and (4) Integration possibility of gelation, solvent exchange and supercritical drying steps in CO2 medium are identified and evaluated in this PhD thesis.
