Bettina Kruber Conceptual design of membrane-assisted hybrid processes
222 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Hamburg (2024), Softcover, A5
This thesis focuses on the systematic design of membrane-assisted separation processes to facilitate the early-stage application in conceptual design. A five-step approach was developed to evaluate pervaporation-assisted hybrid processes by model-based optimization considering energy, exergy, and costs, enhanced by energy integration. This method was adapted to assess the integration of a pressure-driven membrane process into an extraction-distillation hybrid process employed to purify a diluted aqueous solution. Summarizing, this research contributes to the understanding of membrane-assisted processes, offering valuable insights into designing energy-efficient separation systems.
