Hussayn Ahmed Application of Chiral Iron Porphyrin Complexes in Enantioselective Catalysis
86 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität München (2024), Softcover, A5
The potential of chiral iron porphyrin catalysts for enantioselective functionalizations was investigated. The iron catalysts enabled the remote epoxidation of 4-alkenyl-2-quinolones (up to 44% ee) and the enantioselective C-H amination of 3-substituted 2-quinolones and 3-benzylpyridones (up to 99% ee). The selectivity was achieved by hydrogen bonding interactions between the chiral backbone of the chiral iron porphyrin and the respective substrate. These interactions position the reactive site of the substrate in close proximity to the catalytically active metal center, thereby enabling the successful enantioselective functionalizations.
