Dust Resistivity and Re-circulation in Electrostatic Precipitators

171 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Dortmund (2012), Softcover, A5

Zusammenfassung / Abstract

Electrostatic precipitators separate particles suspended in the gas with the help of an electrostatic field. In this work, the experimental results of dust resistivity measurements regarding the onset of back corona are presented. Different test materials e.g. fly ash, glass dusts, limestone etc. were used to study the influence of ascending and descending temperatures, the measurement method, the particle size and the air humidity on the dust resistivity. In other experiments, the particle concentration at the outlet of precipitator duct was found higher near the collection electrodes than in the middle of the duct. A fraction of the precipitator outlet with higher particle concentration was re-circulated with the main inlet stream. The experimental results show that the overall efficiency of the pilot electrostatic precipitator was improved by re-circulation.
