Le Phu Do Hierarchical Resource Allocation for Powerline Communications (PLC) Networks
207 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Dresden (2012), Softcover, A5
Powerline Communications (PLC) is a technology which utilizes the available electrical power network to provide telecommunication services to the customer network terminals. In case a PLC network consists of several adjacent cells, in which parallel transmissions in different cells may interfere, a cell should not be allowed to utilize the whole transmission resources. The resource allocation issue is divided into two sub-problems, which form the so-called two-level hierarchical resource allocation model.
For inter-PLC-cell resource allocation, a Distributed Inter-Cell Resource Allocation (DICRA) protocol is proposed. This protocol allows the cells to cooperate and dynamically share channels in a distributed fashion. For intra-PLC-cell traffic scheduling, the resource allocation problem is formulated as an optimization problem. The objectives are maximizing resource utilization and maintaining fairness between users under the constraint of the available resources.
