Florian Kniep Aktivierung halogenierter organischer Verbindungen durch Halogenbrücken: Erste Anwendungen in der Organokatalyse
367 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität München (2013), Softcover, A5
Halogen bonds (XB) are attractive noncovalent interactions between terminal halogen atoms in compounds of the type R-X (XB-donors) and Lewis bases (XB-acceptors). Strong XB-donors were synthesized and applied to activation reactions of halogenated organic compounds. The first proof of substrate activation by XB could be achieved in the Ritter-type reaction of benzhydryl bromid with acetonitrile. XB-donors catalyze the reaction of 1-chloroisochroman with silyl enol ethers. This case represents the first example of halogen-bond based organocatalysis.
