The present work elaborates on the design of highly-integrated monolithic millimeter-wave (mmW) circuits and systems for radar and imaging applications. The recent advances on silicon technologies, specially those based on SiGe enabled the potential fabrication of millimeter-wave systems on a single die. The corresponding advantages are considerable and very promising. On one hand, these technologies allow to miniaturise existing mm-wave solutions, which proves critical when compact, mobile solutions are required. On the other hand, more complex, power-efficient versions of present-day systems can be produced. This book elaborates on the design of mmW low-noise amplifiers (LNA), voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO), power detectors, power amplifiers (PA), frequency mixers and frequency dividers among several circuit blocks as well as on their integration into transmitter, receiver and transceiver modules. The presented systems find potential application into mmW imaging and radar-based systems and can be expanded into highly-integrated sensor modules.
