Zusammenfassung / Abstract

The presented thesis documents the results of the wear behavior of modern worm gears. The results are based on wear and efficiency tests on worm gears with small and medium center distances. However, the findings are equally valid up to big center distances. The experimental results provide scientific findings to the topics:

- Wear behavior of worm gears of small gear box sizes

- Wear behavior of continuous casting bronzes

- Influence of the surface roughness on wear and efficiency of worm gears

- Boundary wear of worm gears

Based on the results, a more precise wear forecast for worm gear drives compared to the current state of the art is possible.
