Zusammenfassung / Abstract

Material property changes significantly affect the occurrence of manufacturing defects during thermoset automated fiber placement. To quantify these effects, a material characterization routine including new test methods is developed and the property changes due to aging and modification via fillers are correlated to manufacturing trials. Based on the experimental results, defect prediction models are developed which help determine process parameters to avoid defects and minimize manufacturing time.
