Stefan Donath Wetting Models for a Parallel High-Performance Free Surface Lattice Boltzmann Method
222 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (2011), Softcover, B5
Wetting effects play an important role in microfluidics. The behavior of the fluids is dominated by capillary forces which
appear at the contact line of a liquid-gas interface on a solid surface. Computer simulations of these effects by means of the lattice Boltzmann method require stable models that are able to deal with large density ratios, as well as concepts for efficient parallel computation on large-scale supercomputers due to the complexity of physics. The enhancements of a free surface lattice Boltzmann method presented in this dissertation enable the simulation of wetting phenomena in industrially relevant processes, as shown by the example of the liquid water transport in fuel cells.
