Raul Borsche Modeling and Simulation of Sewer Networks and coupled Surface Flow
112 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (2011), Softcover, A5
This thesis deals with sewer networks and their interaction with surface runoff in case of heavy rainfalls.
In order to describe the flow of water in such coupled systems a new manhole model is developed.
It is shown that systems of this type, hyperbolic partial differential equations coupled with ordinary differential equations at the boundary, are mathematically well-posed.
For the numerical realization a 'well-balanced' Augmented Riemann Solver for the Saint Venant equations is constructed.
The dynamics of the new manhole model and the overall coupled system are illustrated in some numerical studies.
Finally some further models of ordinary differential equations coupled to conservation laws are presented.
