Raoul Heese Open pointer-based simultaneous quantum measurements
301 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Ulm (2016), Hardcover, B5
Quantum mechanical measurements take place on the unsettled border between the quantum world of microscopic systems and the classical world of macroscopic measurement devices. A theoretical description of quantum measurements is therefore still subject of ongoing research and scientific discussion. Particularly interesting in this context is the simultaneous measurement of position and momentum of a quantum particle.
In this thesis, we discuss a novel model of simultaneous quantum measurements, which takes the influence of the environment of the measurement setup into consideration. Specifically, we explore the measurement dynamics, the measurement uncertainty, and decoherence effects, which arise during the measurement process. Our results provide new insights into the already wide-ranging topic of quantum measurements.
