Iris Xhango Magnetism and Transport at Grain Boundaries in Cuprates
101 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Augsburg (2013), Softcover, A5
Understanding the physics of grain boundaries in high temperature superconductors is of considerable value for applications of these materials. In order to comprehend the physics at the grain boundaries, it is important to investigate not only the superconducting state but also the normal state. This book is focused on the normal state at the grain boundary. It is shown that local magnetic moments are formed at the grain boundary for finite on-site Coulomb interaction. The impact of the grain boundary and of the magnetic moments on the transport properties of the system is also investigated. Magnetization and transport properties are analyzed for several temperatures. Results show that the normal state resistance at grain boundaries increases for decreasing temperature.
