Ingo Petersen Photoelectron Momentum Distributions from Recollision-Free Strong-Field Ionization of Atoms and Molecules
189 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Hannover (2014), Hardcover, B5
Photoelectron Momentum Distributions from Recollision-Free Strong-Field Ionization of Atoms and Molecules summarizes the research performed by Dipl.-Phys. Ingo Petersen during his conferral of a doctorate in the team around Prof. Dr. M. Lein at the Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Centre for Quantum Engineering and Space-Time Research (QUEST) at the Leibniz University of Hannover. The results comprise the demonstration that the lateral spread of photoelectron momentum distributions in strong-field ionization follows the ionizing electric field on an attosecond timescale. This spread is accurately described by a quantitative tunneling formula derived by the author. Possibilities to improve molecular imaging with strong-field ionization from circularly polarized laser fields are discussed. The work includes a novel approach to treat photoelectron circular dichroism of chiral molecules in strong laser fields non-perturbatively and from first principles, which is a major step towards chiral recognition of enantiomers in the gase phase.
