We present a microfluidic impedance-based flow cytometer operating at radio frequencies. The sensor is fabricated on the basis of a self-rolling mechanism of a strained metal/semiconductor hybrid structure into a microtube to obtain a tubular electrode geometry.
The superiority of our rolled-up coplanar waveguide to conventional planar electrodes is shown by comparing them in fluid sensing experiments, time-resolved flow cytometric measurements, as well as finite element simulations.
